CWater is an initiative by two young Belgians who, after travelling to Madagascar, witnessed firsthand how difficult it was for local villages to meet their basic needs.
In Tsiandamba, a village of 1,200 to 2,000 inhabitants, people have to dig wells to access contaminated, highly saline water. During the dry season, water is barely available. Alternatives like the water treatment plant 16 km away or bottled water are financially out of reach.
That had to change. So they built a solution.

The CWater team activates their local micro water purification unit monthly. Villagers help collect seawater, which is then filtered and stored.
Tsiandamba is a village in southern Madagascar, home to 1,200 to 2,000 people. Access to clean drinking water is far from guaranteed. Villagers dig for water that is contaminated and extremely salty. They use it for drinking, washing and cooking.
The CWater team has set up a local micro water purification unit there. It's a collaborative project: villagers help collect seawater, which is then filtered and stored in large containers.
